Mentions vs full context: which reply mode fits your server?
May 18, 20264 min read
Per-channel control lets you stay helpful in DMs without jumping into every side conversation in a busy server.
DTalky offers two reply modes per connected channel: mentions only, or full in-context conversation.
Picking the right mode is the difference between feeling helpful and feeling like you are everywhere at once.
Mentions mode
Use mentions when you want DTalky to speak only when someone explicitly tags you. Great for large servers, announcement channels, or places where you chime in occasionally.
This mode respects social boundaries — DTalky will not jump into debates you were not invited to.
Full context mode
Use context mode in smaller channels, coworking spaces, friend groups, and DMs where ongoing threads matter.
DTalky reads recent conversation history (about the last 15 minutes in server channels) so replies fit what people were already talking about.
Mix and match
Most power users run mentions in public servers and context in DMs plus one or two private channels. You can change modes anytime from the dashboard.
